## Description

**Stichting Maritiem-Historische Databank (Marhisdata)** is dedicated to preserving the nautical history of the Benelux countries since 1813. Established in 2005, this foundation serves as a comprehensive resource for historical data relating to merchant vessels and their operations under the flags of the Northern and Southern Netherlands, as well as former overseas colonies. Marhisdata collects, organizes, and maintains a wealth of historical records, including ship registrations, ownership documents, and sea letters.

Collaborating with maritime museums and researchers throughout the Netherlands, Marhisdata leverages extensive experience in archival research to illuminate the stories of lesser-known vessels from the 19th century. By focusing on authentic documents and supplementary materials from contemporary sources, the foundation aims to fill gaps in maritime history, bringing previously unknown ships to light. Marhisdata not only enriches public knowledge but also provides valuable resources for researchers, ensuring that important maritime legacies are safeguarded for future generations.
