## Description

Marine Discovery Center (MDC) is a brand dedicated to informing and educating people about the incredible biodiversity of the Indian River Lagoon. As the most biologically diverse estuary in North America, the Indian River Lagoon is home to over 4,000 species and stretches 156 miles down the east coast of Florida. MDC offers a wide range of programs and experiences for all ages, including hands-on classes, camps, lectures, and eco-tours led by certified naturalists and teachers. Visitors can join daily eco-tours and attend free monthly lectures to gain a deeper understanding of the Lagoon's ecology. MDC also provides educational opportunities for children from pre-K through high school, as well as supplemental classes through the Florida Master Naturalist Program. Additionally, the center collaborates with colleges, universities, and conservation organizations to engage citizen scientists in restoration and sustainability activities. Alongside its education and conservation efforts, MDC hosts various special events throughout the year. The center is now located in the former administration building of New Smyrna Beach High School and offers free admission to its facility and grounds.
