## Description

Market162 is the art brand of Debra (Deb) Munson, a self-taught artist based in Wisconsin’s Driftless Region. Working from the Coop Studio, an upcycled chicken coop on her hobby farm, Munson creates original fine art in varied mediums, with encaustic painting as her primary passion. Encaustic art uses heat to melt a medium of beeswax and damar resin, which is applied in layers and fused. Munson builds up colored wax on panels, then scrapes back cooled layers to uncover earlier marks, creating textured works that invite viewers to interpret their stories.

Her practice grew from experimenting with different materials and became a meditative source of solace during a difficult period in her life. She has developed her skills through online courses and workshops and participates in arts organizations. Market162 offers original artwork for viewing and purchase, and Munson also creates commissioned pieces. Her work has been exhibited in Wisconsin and Minnesota and is available through galleries in Saint Paul and La Crosse. The Market162 studio is in Stoddard, Wisconsin.
