## Description

Market Day Iowa is a curated pop-up marketplace based in Des Moines, bringing shoppers together with independent artists, makers, and collectors since 2009. The events feature handmade and vintage goods, original art, and distinctive crafts, with selected vendors drawn from Iowa and cities across the Midwest and beyond. Market Day was created to help customers meet the people behind the objects they buy and to give makers a place to share their work, connect with fellow creatives, and build community. Its markets have included special Black Friday events that redirect attention toward handmade goods and independent businesses. The organization is currently on hiatus and has no events or vendor applications scheduled, citing the pandemic and a desire to consider how it can better serve a broader community of artists. Market Day invites shoppers and makers to follow its social media channels or subscribe to its newsletter for updates and possible future events. The team has also offered event production and coordination, vendor application management, marketing, and logistics.
