## Description

MarkMaker builds the record layer for real-world assets, focusing on the durable information that establishes what an object is, who made and holds it, and what rights are associated with it. The company addresses a persistent problem: records are scattered across artists, galleries, museums, appraisers, auction houses, carriers, storage providers, and owners, often trapped in separate systems. MarkMaker develops object records designed to remain readable beyond the platforms and institutions that created them.

Its work includes digital identification, helping connect a person’s wallets, accounts, and profiles to a consistent identity, and cultural heritage records designed to endure institutional change while respecting privacy and security. MarkMaker also designs and builds platforms for the art trade, including systems intended to help galleries and other participants work with information about the same objects. Its approach is technology-neutral: blockchain, permanent storage, and other tools are selected according to the record’s needs and constraints. Although its work began in art, MarkMaker’s real-world object systems are intended for physical assets that change hands, move, undergo restoration, or are insured and resold.
