## Description

MarrKens Learning Academy is an independent early childhood education provider in Raleigh, North Carolina, serving children ages 2 to 5. With more than six decades of experience, the academy offers a holistic, culturally responsive preschool experience designed to help children build confidence and develop the skills they need before entering a K–12 program. Its programs include toddler care, preschool, and pre-K.

The academy’s approach combines child-centered play, intentional teaching, family collaboration, ongoing observation, and cultural responsiveness. Children learn through activities such as reading, writing, art, cooking, and play, with STEAM concepts incorporated into the experience. The curriculum uses the Creative Curriculum for young children, an approved North Carolina curriculum, and includes African American history across core areas of study.

MarrKens emphasizes close communication with families, sharing updates and photos, issuing quarterly progress reports, and offering parent-teacher conferences. The academy also provides snacks and hot lunches, with accommodations for dietary restrictions. It is open Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
