## Description

The Japan Yacht Match-Race Association (JYMA) was established with the primary goal of enhancing and nurturing match race sailors across Japan. Founded in 1997, and registered as a public interest organization under the Japan Sailing Federation, JYMA focuses on the unique format of match racing, where two yachts compete directly against each other on a compact course. These races, lasting approximately 20 minutes, emphasize tactical maneuvering, boat speed, teamwork, and adherence to racing rules, making them an excellent foundation for broader sailing competitions.

JYMA is dedicated to developing sailors through regular match race events, creating and publishing rankings, and organizing training sessions to cultivate skills among participants. Additionally, JYMA conducts promotional activities to increase the visibility and appreciation of match racing among the sailing community. With its clear and engaging racing format, match racing is designed to be spectator-friendly, allowing fans to easily follow and enjoy the competition from the shore. Through these initiatives, JYMA continues to foster a vibrant sailing culture in Japan.
