## Description

The Deutsche Mathematiker-Vereinigung (DMV) is Germany’s professional association for mathematics, established in 1890. It promotes mathematics across research, teaching, and practical applications, encourages exchange among mathematicians in Germany and internationally, and represents the field’s interests in society, schools, universities, and education policy. The DMV connects a broad community through specialist groups, annual meetings, and public events, including its twice-yearly Gauß Lectures, which showcase current developments in mathematics. It also supports mathematical education and outreach through initiatives such as the Abitur Prize, school awards, competitions, student camps, and resources for people considering mathematics study or careers. The association recognizes contributions to mathematics through prizes and awards, and highlights individuals who champion the subject. Its publications include the DMV-Mitteilungen, the DMV annual report, and Documenta Mathematica. The DMV’s website provides news and perspectives on mathematical research, education, major problems, and topics such as artificial intelligence, alongside event listings, professional profiles, and information about membership and the association’s work.
