The David Mathews Center for Civic Life is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening civic life in Alabama. As a 501(c)(3) non-partisan and tax-exempt corporation, their mission is to build skills, habits, and capacities for effective civic engagement and innovative decision making. With programs that include convening and moderating public forums, hosting reporting-out events, conducting training workshops, and developing youth leadership opportunities, the Mathews Center equips Alabamians with the tools needed to find solutions to community problems and pressing public issues.

They believe in the power of dialogue and actively listen to their diverse network of partners that include small business owners, educators, and community members to work better together and strengthen civic life across the state. Led by Dr. David Mathews, a respected leader in democratic practices, the center also authors the Alabama Civic Health Index to measure civic engagement.
