## Description

Math Snacks is an educational media project that helps middle-school learners understand mathematics through engaging, visual experiences. Developed collaboratively by mathematics educators, mathematicians, learning specialists, and game developers, its animations, games, and interactive tools supplement classroom instruction and make mathematical ideas more accessible, creative, and applicable. The collection covers topics including fractions, ratios, expressions, variables, graphing, coordinate planes, place value, decimals, unit rates, and scale factors. Featured resources include animations such as Bad Date, Number Rights, and Scale Ella, alongside games such as Creature Caverns, Gate Game, Pearl Diver, and Ratio Rumble. Selected activities are also available as iOS apps. Each Math Snacks module aligns with Common Core Standards and includes supporting materials such as teacher and learner guides, a teaching protocol, and an instructional video. The project was led by Dr. Karin Wiburg from 2009 to 2015 and Dr. Karen Trujillo from 2016 to 2019, with support from the National Science Foundation. Math Snacks is associated with New Mexico State University’s Innovative Media Research and Extension.
