## Description

Matthew Rolston Photographer, Inc. presents the work of acclaimed photographer Matthew Rolston, whose practice explores portraiture and the ways art and society shape how people understand the human condition. A central project is Art People: The Pageant Portraits, an exhibition of new photographs inspired by the Pageant of the Masters, an annual arts festival in Laguna Beach, California. The series features intimate portraits of festival participants reenacting historical figures and celebrated works of art, spanning antiquity through 20th-century modernism. Through these images, Rolston examines the boundaries between reality and artifice, as well as the relationship between the animate and the inanimate. The project connects his own portraiture with a broader history of artistic representation. The website offers information about the exhibition and its works, installation presentations at Laguna Art Museum and Pucci Los Angeles, a documentary podcast, a museum catalogue, and catalogue essays. Visitors can also explore selected press coverage and the artist’s biography and CV, learn about exhibition specifications, and purchase the catalogue.
