## Description

Matthews Gallery is an art gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with a focus on regional artists, modernism, and the city’s artistic history. Its blog shares art-world news, artist profiles, exhibition announcements, and stories connected to the Santa Fe and Taos art communities. The gallery presents exhibitions featuring paintings and other works, including retrospectives that bring together artwork and personal artifacts to illuminate an artist’s life and career. Its programming has included a 70-year retrospective of New Mexico modernist Janet Lippincott, as well as exhibitions accompanying a book signing for Robert Wolf’s In Search of America, which recounts encounters with Santa Fe artists. Through these shows and events, Matthews Gallery introduces visitors to established and lesser-known creative figures, including artists such as Tommy Macaione. The gallery also provides a setting for public gatherings and opportunities to explore art, artists, and local cultural history. Its editorial coverage places regional stories in a wider context, discussing figures such as Jean-Michel Basquiat alongside the artists and artistic traditions of New Mexico.
