## Description

The Marine Biological Association of India (MBAI) is an organization established in 1958 to promote research in marine sciences across the Asia-Pacific region and foster interest in marine biology and related fields. Its work spans marine ecology, biodiversity, fisheries, oceanography, conservation, and the physical and chemical processes that shape marine environments. Research topics include plankton, algae, corals, marine animals, ecosystem productivity, population dynamics, aquaculture, pollution, and the effects of environmental change.

MBAI connects scientists, researchers, and other professionals through membership, regional chapters, scientific talks, workshops, quizzes, and international symposia. It also supports research and professional recognition through awards, grants, and fellowships. Its Journal of the Marine Biological Association of India, first published in 1959, is a peer-reviewed publication featuring original research and invited reviews across marine science. The association has also published more than 25 books, monographs, and symposium proceedings. Based in Kochi, Kerala, MBAI provides opportunities for members to contribute to marine research, knowledge sharing, and the conservation and sustainable use of living marine resources.
