BIOFix is the MBBR biomedia brand of TKN Filter, produced and marketed by Tekin Makina Plastik. Founded by Osman Nuri Tekin in 1965, the company began with machinery and spare-parts manufacturing and expanded in 2002 to produce and market MBBR biomedia and filter nozzles. BIOFix media are designed for Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor systems, in which microorganisms attach to media surfaces and support biological treatment. The MBBR process combines benefits of biofilm and activated-sludge systems and can be integrated with existing activated-sludge treatment.
