M'Chigeeng First Nation, located in the heart of Manitoulin Island within Northern Ontario, Canada, is a proud and vibrant community surrounded by the picturesque North Channel of Lake Huron. Formerly known as West Bay, the community has adopted the name M'Chigeeng, meaning Shi-geeng in the local language. As the second largest First Nation on Manitoulin Island, M'Chigeeng's history dates back to the 19th century when Anishinabek individuals from the north shore region resettled here.


Home to the Three Fires Confederacy, which includes the Odawa, Ojibway, and Pottawattomi Nations, M'Chigeeng embodies a rich cultural heritage. With a registered population of 2,543, M'Chigeeng First Nation offers various services and resources to its members. These include administration and finance support, community infrastructure development, education, local delivery mechanisms, health services, mental health, addiction support, and more.
