## Description

McNicholas Architects is an award-winning, bespoke, full-service design and research firm based in Chicago, working on projects across the United States and around the world. The practice serves a broad range of scales and building types, with work spanning houses and residential design, institutional and civic projects, urban design and master planning, commercial and hospitality spaces, and architectural ornament and detail. Its portfolio draws on experience in both traditional and contemporary contexts, supported by research into how the built environment affects people. The firm also collaborates with neuroscientists and other leaders in evidence-based design, bringing this research into its design process. McNicholas Architects aims to create beautiful, meaningful architecture and thoughtful urban places, with careful detailing that gives each project an elegant and distinctive character. The firm emphasizes close collaboration and teamwork, and is committed to helping clients achieve successful projects through attentive professional service and considered design. In addition to its architectural practice, the firm shares travel writing and other insights through its Travelogue and blog.
