## Description

MDIA, the Mount Diablo Interpretive Association, is a non-profit organization established in 1974. Their dedicated team of volunteers assists the California Department of Parks and Recreation in maintaining and interpreting the breathtaking Mount Diablo State Park. With an aim to foster appreciation and enlightened use of the park, MDIA provides educational resources, sponsors activities, and publishes informative materials. They take pride in keeping the Summit Museum and Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center open all year round, offering visitors a chance to learn and explore. MDIA also supports the Volunteers in Parks Program, which includes training and managing park docents, organizing guided hikes, and trail maintenance. Notably, MDIA played a major role in raising funds for the construction of the Museum atop Mount Diablo's summit. Currently, they are working towards erecting a new Education Center at the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center. With their programs and publications, MDIA aims to enhance public appreciation for the mountain and promote its conservation.
