About

Description

Medicines Development for Global Health (MDGH) is an independent not-for-profit company dedicated to developing medicines for those in need. Founded in 2005 by Mark Sullivan, MDGH addresses health inequity by researching, developing, and delivering new and improved medicines for diseases that disproportionately affect low- and middle-income countries. One of MDGH's notable accomplishments was the US FDA approval of moxidectin in 2018, making it the first medicine approved to treat river blindness in two decades.

In 2020, MDGH secured the global rights to dovramilast, an investigational treatment with the potential to address tuberculosis and leprosy type 2 reactions. MDGH's not-for-profit model combines the strengths of product development partnerships and the traditional biopharmaceutical industry. They undertake all phases of product development in-house, prioritizing the delivery of medicines to those most in need.

Additionally, MDGH is committed to diversifying funding sources, including philanthropic support, to continue their essential work. MDGH is deeply grateful for the support of foundations and organizations such as TDR, GHIF, Australian Trade Commission, EDCTP, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Amgen Inc., who have invested in and contributed to the improvement of public health through MDGH's initiatives
