## Description

Médiéval Combat is a volunteer association based in the Nice area of France, dedicated to the study and practice of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA). For more than ten years, its members have explored martial traditions from the late Middle Ages, Renaissance and early modern period, using historical sources such as treatises, manuscripts and images to investigate how techniques were performed. The association offers regular training sessions and workshops covering longsword, shield, dagger, wrestling, spear, sabre and historical French boxing, as well as occasional practice with the dussack, cane, knife and axe. Sessions include controlled sparring designed to develop technique and the ability to strike without being struck. Training formats range from slow practice for learning and memorisation to full-speed sparring for experienced practitioners and competitors, using equipment suited to different levels of protection. Some manuscript techniques are also explored in armour. Médiéval Combat welcomes newcomers and experienced martial artists alike, fostering a convivial culture of discovery, courtesy, humility and commitment.
