## Description

Med Milk is a Georgia 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to establish the state’s first donor human milk bank. Its mission is to help ensure medically fragile babies in Georgia can access safe, pasteurized donor milk, rather than relying on supplies purchased from out-of-state banks. The organization brings together clinicians, community leaders, and partners to develop a statewide milk-bank service and depot network. It is pursuing accreditation from the Human Milk Banking Association of North America and raising funds to build the specialized facilities and operations needed for screening, processing, storage, and distribution.

Med Milk’s planned service will connect approved milk donors with hospitals and outpatient babies. The process includes donor health screening, nutritional analysis, bottling, Holder pasteurization, bacterial cultures, and frozen storage. Donated milk is never bought or sold, and donors are not paid. The nonprofit invites individuals and organizations to support its work through donations, milk-donor screening, partnerships, or hosting a collection depot. Med Milk also shares information about milk banking and updates on its progress toward serving families statewide.
