## Description

The Meereisportal serves as an essential resource for understanding the crucial role of sea ice in our planet's climate system. Covering about seven percent of the world’s oceans, sea ice cools the Earth, influences ocean currents, and provides habitat for numerous species. As conditions change rapidly due to climate change, the portal offers valuable, scientifically-backed insights about sea ice dynamics in an accessible manner.

The Meereisportal features a wide range of services, including real-time maps and graphics that illustrate sea ice concentration and extent in both the Arctic and Antarctic. Users can access past and present data trends, create custom animations, and explore a wealth of educational resources covering topics from sea ice physics to its ecological impact. Collaborating with the Institute of Environmental Physics at the University of Bremen and the Alfred Wegener Institute, this platform aims to promote awareness and understanding of our planet's changing cryosphere, emphasizing the need for action regarding climate change.
