Memphis Teacher Residency (MTR) is a faith-based non-profit organization dedicated to addressing educational inequality and promoting equal education. Founded in 2009, MTR recruits, trains, and supports effective teachers in a Christian context. The program offers college graduates the opportunity to train with a mentor teacher, receive coaching, and engage in a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) coursework through Christian Brothers University.

Graduates of the program commit to teaching in under-resourced schools in Memphis for three years. MTR provides numerous benefits to its residents, including the opportunity to earn a Master's degree, an intensive classroom experience under mentor supervision, and the chance to establish personal and professional relationships through intentional events and shared housing. Residents also receive financial benefits such as a living stipend, tuition coverage for their Master's degree, and housing during the residency year.

With impressive results, including 90% of graduates completing their teaching commitment and a 5-year median graduate career in high-need education, MTR has proven its effectiveness in improving educational outcomes for underprivileged communities.
