## Description

Mensa in Deutschland is one of the largest associations for gifted individuals with nearly 16,000 members. Established in 1979, Mensa in Deutschland is part of Mensa International, a global organization with over 145,000 members from more than 50 national associations. The name Mensa is derived from the Latin word for table, symbolizing their commitment to bringing together highly intelligent people from diverse backgrounds, regardless of their age, gender, or educational level. Mensa provides its members with a intellectually-stimulating and socially-engaging environment, fostering both personal and professional connections. While Mensa does not have specific political or ideological goals, it aims to challenge negative stereotypes surrounding giftedness and utilize intelligence for the benefit of humanity. Mensa offers IQ tests to determine membership eligibility, organizes events and activities, promotes research in human intelligence, and supports the education and development of gifted individuals.
