Description
Mensa International is a global organization that was founded in 1946 in England. Its primary goal is to foster human intelligence and provide a stimulating intellectual and social environment for its members. Mensa is a non-political and non-religious society, free from any racial or religious distinctions.
The name Mensa, which means table in Latin, reflects its inclusive nature as a round-table society where factors like ethnicity, age, and educational background are irrelevant. To become a member of Mensa, one must score in the top 2% of the general population on an approved intelligence test. This strict qualification ensures that Mensa comprises individuals with exceptional cognitive abilities from diverse countries and cultures.
With a membership of approximately 145,000 individuals in around 90 countries, Mensa serves as a global forum for different points of view. Mensa has active organizations on every continent and works towards three core objectives: identifying and fostering human intelligence, encouraging research on intelligence, and providing an intellectually stimulating environment. These objectives are consistently pursued by all national Mensa organizations, irrespective of their geographic locations
