## Description

Mentalmate is a Sheffield-based community initiative that brings people together through boxing and supportive conversation. Founded in January 2020 by someone who found boxing helpful while managing their own mental health, the organisation aims to make it easier for people to connect without pressure to talk. Its sessions take place six times a week at the Mentalmate Boxing Gym in the Wicker area, offering a welcoming space to exercise, relieve stress and anxiety, and build physical fitness alongside a sense of community.

The programme is open to people of all sizes and abilities, and no previous boxing experience is required. Attendees are welcome to share how they feel, but talking is optional; participants can simply join the workout and be among others with similar aims. The weekly timetable includes boxing sessions on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, as well as women-only sessions on Tuesday evening and Friday morning. Mentalmate is a registered charity, number 1207675, and welcomes newcomers to try a session.
