## Description

Merdeka Run 8.0K is a public running event organized by the Secretariat of State of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to celebrate Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day. Open to Indonesian citizens of all genders, the event takes place in Jakarta on Sunday, August 24, 2025, with a start on Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara and a finish at the northwest side of Monas. Participants can choose between two race offerings: an 8-kilometer general run and a 4.5-kilometer family run. Competition classes include general and masters divisions, with a junior class available in the family-distance event. Race pack collection is scheduled for Saturday, August 23, at the Ministry of Youth and Sports office in Senayan. The event also features men’s and women’s prize categories, with awards for leading finishers across the distances and age divisions. Through its different race options and competitive classes, Merdeka Run 8.0K brings together runners and families to mark a national celebration through sport.
