## Description

Marine Environment and Resources Foundation (MERF) is a non-political, non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and rational development of marine resources in the Philippines. Established in 1991, MERF collaborates with local and international funding agencies to implement research, development, and extension programs. MERF works closely with the University of the Philippines Marine Science Institute (UP MSI), enhancing its scientific foundation and capability in marine sciences. By developing assessment tools and promoting grassroots conservation actions, MERF actively engages stakeholders to protect marine ecosystems and resources. At the core of MERF's mission is the establishment of partnerships with government organizations, non-government organizations, local government units, and private corporations. These collaborations enable the organization to serve as a liaison for international initiatives and empower local communities in marine conservation efforts. Symbolized by its logo, MERF represents progress, continuity, and responsible stewardship of the marine environment. The foundation's diverse projects and research focus on fostering environmental literacy, advancing marine science, and advocating for the preservation of marine ecosystems. For inquiries and information, you can contact MERF at (+632) 89223959 or via email at info@merf.org.ph. The foundation is located at Room 120, Ground Floor, The Marine Science Institute, Velasquez Street, U.P. Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines.
