## Description

MERIL, or Mapping of the European Research Infrastructure Landscape, is a European portal and database that helps users discover openly accessible research infrastructures across Europe. Its coverage spans scientific fields, including the social sciences and humanities, and brings together information on infrastructures, services, equipment, organisations and contacts. Visitors can search the database, explore visualisation tools and browse recently published entries. The portal was developed through the MERIL-2 project, which received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 654296. Although the project has ended, the MERIL portal remains online and searchable; it no longer accepts or processes new or updated infrastructure records. Further use of MERIL data has continued through the CatRIS project. Infrastructure representatives may request access to pre-filled records and, after review, update and publish their service information in the CatRIS public portal. MERIL therefore serves as a reference resource for exploring European research infrastructure and related services, rather than an active submission platform.
