## Description

META Cultural Foundation is a Romanian nonprofit active in the visual arts since 1995 and among the country’s early private contemporary-art organizations. It supports Romanian contemporary art locally and internationally, encourages cultural exchange, and creates opportunities for emerging artists to share their work. Its interdisciplinary approach brings artists and professionals from fields including literature, science, history, and anthropology together through exhibitions, sculpture and interdisciplinary symposiums, and workshops, often in unconventional cultural spaces.

The foundation also publishes books, translations, art journals, and reference works through META Publishing. Its projects include bilingual online encyclopedias devoted to Romanian sculpture and architecture, alongside publications documenting artistic practice. In film and moving-image art, it has organized international audiovisual residencies and supported experimental filmmaking. Its Magic Carpets residency in Slon, Prahova, brings artists into dialogue with local residents and cultural heritage through creative and educational activities. Based at a purpose-designed artistic space that includes the M2M – 2 META Museum, the foundation connects contemporary artistic experimentation with community life and local traditions.
