Metranet, a subsidiary of PT. Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk (Telkom), was established on April 17, 2009, with a vision to monetize opportunities in the online industry. Over the years, Metranet has undertaken various business initiatives, including mobile content, commerce, online ticketing, and social network game publishing. In 2012, Metranet embarked on a strategic partnership with Microsoft and eBay, resulting in the formation of a joint venture called PT Metraplasa (now known as Blanja.com). This collaboration further expanded Metranet's online presence. In 2015, Metranet focused on two key business portfolios: Digital Consumer Payment (Upoint) and Digital Advertising (Uads). With the theme Being Alive and a strong emphasis on their Restructuring Plan, Metranet established a solid foundation in the gaming industry by collaborating with global game companies. Metranet continued to grow by acquiring a 52% stake in PT. Melon Indonesia in November 2016, strengthening their position in the digital content industry. In 2018, Metranet aligned its business strategy with Telkom's TIMES portfolio, focusing on Digital Content, Commerce, Smart Platform, Digital Advertising, and Financial Services. To enhance their Financial Services portfolio, Metranet acquired shares in Cellum, a multinational mobile wallet provider based in Europe. In 2020, Metranet became a shareholder in RUNSystem, a digital startup specializing in Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) software. This partnership allowed Metranet to offer innovative solutions to various industries.
