Institut Meydane is a brand that aims to (Re)Think the Orient by offering a multidisciplinary expertise of the region's history and current affairs. Born in 2013 within the Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas university and subsequently expanded to other Parisian universities, Meydane is driven by a group of passionate students who are dedicated to exploring the Orient beyond political, ethnic, communal, or religious affiliations. As an independent network of French student associations, Meydane is funded solely by university budgets allocated to student projects (FSDIE), the complimentary use of university facilities, and student member contributions.

Each Meydane association operates within the regulations and guidelines set by the universities and French legislation pertaining to associations (law of 1905). Drawing on a roster of invited external speakers, Meydane organizes conferences that provide valuable insights into the historical, Middle Eastern, Central Asian, and North African contexts, pushing for a better understanding of the region's actors, systems, and challenges.
