## Description

The Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach (MFO), also known as the Oberwolfach Research Institute for Mathematics, is an international mathematics research centre in Germany’s Black Forest. A member of the Leibniz Association, it is jointly funded by the German federal and state governments. The Institute brings leading mathematicians from around the world together to conduct research, exchange ideas, and discuss developments in their fields.

MFO organizes a varied scientific program, including workshops, mini-workshops, seminars, study groups, and research fellowships. It also offers programs and travel grants that support early-career researchers. For invited guests, the Institute provides practical information and facilities for their stay, alongside access to its mathematics library and electronic resources.

Its publishing and outreach activities make research accessible to broader audiences. Oberwolfach Reports summarize meetings, while Oberwolfach Preprints share research results connected to longer stays at the Institute. Snapshots of Modern Mathematics explain current mathematical ideas for non-specialists. Additional resources include a library catalogue, an online photo collection, public lectures, and educational materials.
