## Description

The Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute (MFRI), part of the University of Maryland, is Maryland’s statewide training and education system for all-hazard emergency response. It plans, researches, develops, and delivers programs that prepare agencies and individuals to protect life, property, and the environment. Through regional offices and training centers across the state, MFRI provides practical instruction close to the communities it serves.

Its offerings include Maryland emergency services training, open-enrollment courses, and programs for government, industry, and the Department of Defense. Training covers areas such as Advanced Life Support, incident command simulation, professional development for instructors, and other fire and rescue subjects. MFRI also publishes course schedules and catalogs, hosts seminars, and provides online class scheduling. Students can access forms, retrieve their student number, and request transcripts and certificates, while instructors and partner agencies have dedicated resources and portals. MFRI supports certification pathways and ongoing learning through resources such as its certification and drill quizzes.
