## Description

Maigesellschaft Gürzenich is a local cultural association dedicated to preserving the customs and community traditions of Gürzenich. Founded in 1910, the society has a history spanning more than a century and shares news and information about its activities through its website and social media. Its work centers on the village’s Maytime traditions, including the annual Maifest, celebrated at Pentecost, and customs associated with the maypole, the May auction, and the Mairemmel. The association also documents the village’s May kings and queens, past celebrations, society history, songs, and honorary members, helping keep local heritage visible for residents and visitors.

Alongside its traditional festivities, Maigesellschaft Gürzenich organizes opportunities for the community to gather. In 2026, it announced its first Christmas market, planned for December 12 behind the church, with seasonal activities and a welcoming village atmosphere. The society’s website provides event dates, photo galleries, videos, historical material, and contact information, connecting people with Gürzenich’s traditions and current community events.
