## Description

The Militärhistorisches Museum der Bundeswehr, located at the historical Flugplatz Berlin-Gatow, serves as a key extension of Germany's military history narrative. Unlike its main site in Dresden, which presents a broader cultural history of violence, the Berlin-Gatow museum focuses specifically on the evolution of aerial warfare over the last 120 years. Visitors can explore an extensive collection that includes over 600,000 artifacts, featuring around 200 historic aircraft, ground-to-air missile systems, and personal memorabilia that illustrate the complexity of military aviation, particularly during the Cold War era.

Open from Tuesday to Sunday, the museum offers free admission, making it accessible to everyone. Engaging family-friendly activities and Sunday guided tours enhance the experience. The museum’s future promises a comprehensive renovation, aiming to enrich its educational programming tailored for schools, families, and military personnel alike. The historical significance of the site, tied to the Berlin Airlift, adds a unique contextual layer to the exhibits, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts and families seeking educational outings.
