About

Description

Microbechem is a venture company founded by Fukui Prefectural University, with a name derived from microbe, meaning microorganisms, and chem, meaning chemistry. Our main focus is the development and utilization of a naturally derived polyamide compound called polylysine, which is produced by microorganisms residing in the soil. Polylysine has various applications in different fields.

Our company aims to promote the use of polyamide compounds and explore their potential in industries such as healthcare, functional materials, and more. With a foundation built on past research achievements, we strive to develop new applied technologies, obtain patents, and commercialize our products. Polylysine exhibits antibacterial activity, hydrophilicity, and the ability to penetrate cell membranes efficiently.

In the medical field, it can be utilized as a drug delivery system or for coating artificial blood vessels and bioprosthetic valves to prevent infections. Furthermore, in the functional materials field, it can provide drip-proof and antistatic effects, making it suitable for applications such as lens coatings. We also focus on exploring and utilizing beneficial microorganisms, such as yeast and lactic acid bacteria, through technology development.

By evaluating and applying the functionality of yeast and lactic acid bacteria derived from traditional food products in Fukui Prefecture, we contribute to the development of new products and technologies. Microbechem, Inc., based in Fukui Prefecture, was established in February 2020. Our main business activities include research and development, manufacturing, and sales of polyamide compounds produced by microorganisms, as well as the exploration and utilization of beneficial microorganisms and enzymes.
