## Description

Microcosm Foods is a science-focused organization working to make the health benefits of fermentation accessible to everyone. It connects fermented foods, their microbes, and the compounds they produce with potential effects on human health, bridging traditional food practices and modern research. The organization studies how microbial communities and metabolites in foods such as cheese and kimchi may influence inflammation, digestion, and other aspects of biology.

Microcosm Foods combines research, education, and product innovation to explore fermentation’s health potential. Its team of food scientists, microbiologists, and computational researchers investigates fermented foods using approaches including microbial analysis, comparative metagenomics, and machine learning. Alongside its research, the organization shares knowledge through educational content and public resources designed to make fermentation science easier to understand.

Visitors can explore and reuse open datasets, build on open-source tools, and read the organization’s blog for research findings and updates. Microcosm Foods also offers a newsletter for people interested in its work.
