## Description

**Micromobilidade Brasil**

Micromobilidade Brasil is a pioneering platform designed to enhance urban mobility through sustainable transportation solutions. Coordinated by the Sustainable Mobility Laboratory (LABMOB) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), the initiative is supported by Itaú Unibanco and works in collaboration with the Institute of Energy and Environment (IEMA).

The platform's primary objectives are to map public micromobility systems, ensure data transparency, and quantify reduced CO₂ emissions. With the rise of urban congestion and environmental challenges posed by fossil fuel-powered vehicles, micromobility offers a viable alternative for everyday travel. This concept involves light vehicles, such as bicycles and electric scooters, that utilize advanced technology and can be operated through mobile phone apps.

Currently, users can access these shared mobility services in over a thousand cities globally. The systems typically allow bike and scooter rentals through fixed stations or dockless options, making urban transport both flexible and sustainable, fostering a shift toward eco-friendly commuting practices in Brazilian cities.
