## Description

The Mauritius Institute of Education (MIE) is a public education institution established under the MIE Act of 1973, later amended in 1984. Its continuing mandates are teacher education, curriculum development and research, supporting the development of education in Mauritius. MIE provides undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including bachelor’s degrees, diplomas, certificates and non-award courses. Its academic offerings are organized through schools covering education, science and mathematics, applied sciences, and arts and humanities. The institute also supports professional development for education personnel and provides information on programmes, examinations, timetables and student services.

Alongside teaching, MIE develops textbooks and curricula for primary and secondary education, including regular, extended and foundation programmes. Its research work aims to inform education policy and advance knowledge in the field. Students and researchers can access library catalogues, e-books, online journals and other learning resources. MIE also offers student support initiatives, including the Mauritius-Africa Scholarship Scheme, and maintains international and academic partnerships. Based in Réduit, the institute presents itself as dedicated to excellence in teaching and education.
