## Description

Mikkels Tante is the personal website of Katharina Esch, a researcher, documentary producer, translator, and writer born in Demmin and living in Balestrand, Norway. Begun in 2017, the site brings together her reflections and projects on the history of Demmin in 1945, the Second World War in Norway, and the experiences of women and children during wartime. It also explores family history, eyewitness memories, transgenerational trauma, ambiguity, and the importance of remembrance.

The website offers articles and resources in German and English, including accounts of Demmin, memories of life in the GDR, and stories connected with Norwegian women known as Tyskerjenter. It features work related to the documentary The Loom Film and the writing of Norwegian author Trude Teige, including her novel Als Großmutter im Regen tanzte. Esch shares research drawn from interviews and archival sources, alongside personal essays and translation work. The site serves as an accessible collection of historical inquiry, cultural reflection, and personal experience, connecting stories across Germany and Norway.
