## Description

Minesto AB is a renewable-energy company developing technology to generate electricity from tidal streams and ocean currents. Its systems harness the predictable movement of seawater to provide a local source of renewable power, complementing energy sources such as wind and solar. The company’s core innovation is a subsea kite that travels across the main flow of a current. By moving faster than the water around it, the kite drives a rotor and can capture energy with smaller equipment than a fixed turbine requires. Minesto’s kite power plants are designed to be powerful, lightweight and modular, with rated capacities ranging from 100 kilowatts to 1.2 megawatts. The company offers kite systems and works on site development, as well as operations, service and maintenance. Its projects include work in the Faroe Islands, Holyhead Deep and Taiwan. In the Faroe Islands, Minesto contributes to an energy transition initiative targeting 100% renewable energy by 2030. Headquartered in Sweden, the company also has a UK presence.
