About

Description

Miracle Food Network (MFN) is a brand dedicated to combating food insecurity and reducing waste. It all started with the founder's frustration over the immense amount of perfectly good surplus food being discarded in landfills while many people struggled to secure their next meal. Thus, the mission of MFN was born - to connect people with food and resources to improve their well-being.

MFN has made significant strides in achieving their goal. From small car-trunk loads to massive semi-loads of rescued food, they work tirelessly to bridge the gap between surplus resources and the basic food needs of families, friends, and neighbors. In fact, from January to November 2022 alone, they successfully rescued an astounding 871,111 pounds of food and goods.

To put it into perspective, this is equivalent to serving 729,800 meals. Their process is streamlined and efficient. A dedicated fleet of volunteer drivers transports the rescued food and goods to their sorting and boxing center.

Another team of volunteers then categorizes them based on their suitability for human consumption, as well as for distribution to local pig farmers. Taking it a step further, MFN dispatches drivers to various hubs, food banks, pantries, school districts, and even implements a door-to-door delivery system in collaboration with Project DASH. The impact of MFN's efforts goes beyond just providing meals.

They have saved an incredible amount of water, approximately 399,506,616 gallons, and prevented the emission of 475,728 Co2E from landfills. These numbers highlight the significant environmental benefits of their food rescue mission. The unfortunate reality is that a staggering one-third of food generated in the US ends up being wasted, according to the US EPA.

In 2021 alone, an estimated 80 billion pounds of food were wasted in the country. However, MFN is actively working towards changing this narrative by advocating for state and national legislation that would legally require food waste reduction. As a brand, Miracle Food Network stands as a beacon of hope, demonstrating how through collective efforts and community engagement, surplus food can be redistributed to those in need, thereby reducing waste and transforming lives.

If you're looking to make a positive impact on both the community and the environment, MFN offers various ways to get involved and contribute to their invaluable cause
