## Description

MiR Gelsenkirchen, also known as Musiktheater im Revier, is a performing arts venue in Gelsenkirchen and a distinctive part of the Ruhr region’s cultural landscape. Its programme brings together music theatre, contemporary dance, concerts and experimental work, welcoming audiences of different ages and interests. Productions range from opera and musical theatre to works such as Alban Berg’s Wozzeck and Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca. TanzGelsenkirchen combines contemporary dance with hip-hop and other modern styles, while the concert programme includes performances by the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, a fixture in the region since 1996. MiR.LAB is an open space for exploring, presenting and producing experimental music theatre, including projects that connect theatre with digital culture. The venue also offers family concerts, children’s and youth activities, a children’s choir and opportunities to participate in theatre groups. Visitors can browse the calendar, book tickets, choose subscriptions or use the MiR Card for benefits and savings. Located at Kennedyplatz, MiR Gelsenkirchen also provides visitor information on accessibility, travel and on-site services.
