## Description

MIT, or Movimento Identità Trans, is one of Italy’s oldest and most established LGBTQ+ associations. Based in Bologna, the organization works to advance the rights, wellbeing, and inclusion of trans and wider LGBTQIA+ communities through practical support, advocacy, and cultural initiatives. Its services include a counseling center offering psychological support to individuals, couples, and families, as well as legal assistance, reception and accommodation support, and a dedicated desk for LGBTQI migrants seeking to defend and promote their rights in Italy. Via Luna is a harm-reduction project supporting people engaged in sex work, delivered by a team that includes cultural mediators, peer educators, social workers, and lawyers. MIT also operates anti-discrimination and anti-violence initiatives and offers support related to housing and employment. Beyond direct services, the association organizes training and media activities, publishes information and updates, and promotes LGBTQIA+ culture through projects and Divergenti, its trans cinema festival. MIT’s work is supported partly by public funding and substantially by volunteering and community contributions; people can support the association through membership, donations, or Italy’s five-per-thousand tax allocation.
