The terms of the treaty provided the community with farmland and wildland reserves. In 2009, the First Nation changed its name from Stanjikomiing First Nation to Mitaanjigamiing First Nation, which means Where a smaller lake flows into a bigger lake. This decision was made to honor the Ojibway language and local place names. Mitaanjigamiing First Nation offers a variety of services, including finance and administration, education, economic development, social services, health services, maintenance and operations, and recreation. Their dedicated staff members work diligently to support and serve the community.
