About
Description
Mixteca Organization Inc. Their mission is to address critical needs in health, education, social, and legal issues facing the Mexican and Latin American immigrant community in Brooklyn. They aim to provide social-emotional support, education, and leadership skills necessary for sustainable livelihoods and thriving in New York City. Mixteca has a rich history of supporting the Sunset Park community, starting with their response to the AIDS crisis twenty years ago.
Dr. Gabriel Rincón founded the organization to provide free health and education programs for the Mexican immigrant community. Since then, Mixteca has become a meeting place for people of diverse backgrounds, offering English, literacy, and computer classes, labor rights and immigration workshops, health workshops, and community celebrations. In response to the recent health and economic challenges, Mixteca has continued to provide vital assistance while maintaining their core programming.
Their dedicated team, led by Executive Director Lorena Kourousias, is committed to empowering Mexican and Latin American immigrants in the New York area through their various programs. Want to support their cause? Contact Mixteca at info@mixteca. org or visit their office at 245 23rd Street, Brooklyn, NY.
