## Description

The Mauthausen Komitee Österreich (MKÖ) is a dedicated organization focused on memorializing the victims of the Mauthausen concentration camp and combating right-wing extremism. Established with the mission to preserve the legacy of former prisoners, MKÖ engages in various activities such as educational programs, remembrance days, and cultural projects that emphasize the importance of historical awareness and civic courage.

MKÖ offers numerous initiatives aimed at youth, fostering democratic values and understanding cultural differences. Among its prominent events are the International Liberation Ceremony and the Fest der Freude, which encourage community participation in advocating for never again policies regarding totalitarianism and injustice. The organization also presents the Hans Maršálek Prize, recognizing significant contributions to remembrance and awareness efforts.

Furthermore, MKÖ actively monitors and documents instances of right-wing extremism in Austria, ensuring that the lessons of history continue to resonate in contemporary society. With resources such as apps detailing the history of Mauthausen and its subcamps, MKÖ remains committed to education and the preservation of truth.
