Founded to represent the aspirations of the Tuareg and other groups in northern Mali, the MNLA emphasizes the pursuit of peace and self-determination through dialogue and negotiation.

The MNLA's efforts include addressing regional stability issues, engaging in community outreach, and maintaining communication with the international community regarding security and humanitarian concerns. They release regular updates and communiqués, showcasing their stance on ongoing military confrontations, particularly against the Malian Armed Forces and associated groups.
