## Description

The Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives (AMEC) serves as a vital network of not-for-profit electric utilities dedicated to providing affordable and reliable power across Missouri. With 40 distribution cooperatives covering nearly 80% of the state's landmass, AMEC delivers electric service to over two million members, embodying the cooperative principle of member empowerment through participation and local governance.

In addition to reliable electricity, AMEC advocates for safety and efficiency, offering various programs including energy audits, smart thermostats, and alternative energy solutions like solar and ground source heat pumps. The cooperative also emphasizes educational initiatives such as the Youth Tour and CYCLE, designed to engage local students in leadership development and civic responsibilities.

Committed to sustainability, AMEC utilizes a diverse energy mix comprising clean coal, natural gas, wind, and hydro power, ensuring that members have consistent energy access. By fostering community engagement and promoting energy efficiency, AMEC not only fuels homes but also powers a collective vision for a sustainable future in Missouri.
