## Description

The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan plays a pivotal role in overseeing the nation’s vast mineral resources, estimated to be valued between one to three trillion US dollars. With significant deposits of iron, copper, gold, precious and semi-precious stones, as well as rare earth minerals, oil, and gas, the ministry focuses on sustainable utilization to enhance financial revenue and promote trade balance.

This governmental body is responsible for policy-making, operational oversight, and regulation of the mining and hydrocarbon sectors. It aims to create a favorable legal framework to encourage investment, including laws for hydrocarbons and mining regulations. The ministry's operational divisions include the Afghan Gas Company and the Cement Factory in Jabal os Saraj, which have been integrated into state-owned enterprises under presidential order. Their mission is to foster economic growth through efficient use of resources, ensuring transparency and accountability while promoting opportunities for national revenue enhancement. Committed to modernizing the extractive industries, the ministry seeks to position Afghanistan competitively on the global stage.
